These are the requirements for buoys and mooring lines.
- To allow for maximum manoeuvring space in the harbour, the buoy spacings must be maintained.
- Buoys that are too far out are obstructing other boats!
- Generous manoeuvring space creates safety and well-being!
- The correct weight and dimensions of mooring lines are a safety issue!
GUIDELINES:
Distance from pier to buoy = Boat's L + 5 m.
Chain length = Depth at mean water level
Example: Boat 7 m + 5 m = 12 m
Secure for storm – Don't take a chance
Check if your anchor stone is the correct size. Replace the anchor stone if it is too light. This is particularly important if you are moving to a new location.
The condition, size, and quality of the chain are checked with the fleet of vessels. Lift the mooring buoy to check the chain. Do this when taking over a mooring, or at least every five years. Chain whose thinnest link is 6 mm should be replaced. At 4-5 mm, it is too late.

With the game fleet, buoys and bridge stones weighing up to two tonnes are moved and adjusted. Lifting is done with a 12-volt electric motor or a chain hoist.
It should be handled with some care. Beneath the stand is a restraint hook for stepwise lifting in conjunction with the lifting hook's ”tag”.
Hanging the stone with a synthetic rope in the hook is a simple way to get the stone in place. Cut the rope with a knife when you are ”in position”. Then make any necessary final adjustments.
Warning! Always have two people on the raft, and wear a life jacket! Learn the craft from person to person. It's not difficult, but requires caution! Also, consult one of the harbour masters!
Mooring ropes should be strong and of a quality that is not easily chafed by the boat's movements. Do not use polypropylene! Use soft polyester rope, at least 12-16 mm. Tie with non-slip knots.
Running the line through buoy or jetty loops is dangerous! 90 % of boats that have broken free were moored in this way!
