PVBK is an acronym for Patholmsviken's Boat Club, the association that looks after the members' interests in our harbour. The club has roots dating back to the 40s, when it was located on the other side of the bay.
When Umeå harbour was built in 1974, an embankment was constructed towards the Finland ferry terminal, and we had to move to our current location. The municipality then exercised a right to own the harbour, but the club received a maintenance grant in exchange for providing voluntary labour. Through our own efforts, we got more for our money.
Since 1st January 2003, we have had a long-term leasehold agreement. The contracts you have for your boat mooring and/or storage are signed with and paid to the club, as is the annual fee.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The club's contract with the municipality regulates our responsibilities, which include:
- Being responsible for watchkeeping, cleaning, and the allocation of berths and moorings
- To carry out maintenance of the harbour apron
- Ensuring that rules within the harbour area are followed
- To be responsible for fuel sales
- To winterise and, in the spring, connect the jetties
- To provide guest pitches
