Hauling out

Same points as launch, but with the following additions:

  • Arrive at the service jetty in good time, in order of precedence.
  • Follow officials' instructions.
  • Ensure the boat is the right way up before any of the trucks arrive.

Do not park cars in the loading bay.

How should a cradle look?

Many cradles obstruct and pinch straps in the longitudinal spars during pick-ups.

Change to diagonal bracing. This will also make bottom painting easier!

Walls wider than 2.2m are difficult to lift or can be damaged by the forklift. Lower crossbeams must be 75-100mm thick to fit the forks underneath. Is your cradle designed like this? If not – consult the forklift driver or harbour master!
